# Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about what Talos does, where it runs, how it connects to models, and what stays on your device.

## What is Talos?

Talos is an immersive AI workspace for macOS and Windows. It is built for real tasks and can work with authorized files, use tools, carry work forward, and deliver finished results.

## How is Talos different from a chatbot?

A typical chatbot stops after answering a question. Talos is designed to keep the task moving by retaining context, working through source material, using the right capabilities, and producing files or content you can use.

## Which operating systems does Talos support?

The macOS app requires macOS 11 or later and is Universal for Apple silicon and Intel. The Windows app supports Windows 10 and 11 on x64 processors. Linux and Windows on Arm are not currently supported.

## Does Talos work completely offline?

No. Talos is local-first, not fully offline. Conversations and files stay on your device by default, but model requests and some connected services require internet access.

## Can I use my own model account or API key?

Yes. You can use hosted models provided through Talos, or connect your own model account or API key. With your own API key, requests go directly from your device to the relevant model service provider, and the key stays on your device.

## What file types can Talos work with?

Common supported formats shown in Talos include PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint files, and images. You can bring several files and formats into one task and receive finished deliverables when the work is complete.

## How do scheduled tasks run?

Once you choose a schedule, Talos starts the task at the set time while the app is running. Each run and its results are kept in a timeline for review.

## Does Talos publish generated content automatically?

Talos can create a complete content package and deliver ready-to-publish assets. You decide whether and when anything is published.

## Where are my conversations and files stored?

Conversations, files, skills, and settings stay on your device by default and are not automatically uploaded to Talos servers. When you use included credits, request content passes through the Talos gateway to the model service provider you choose. See the [Privacy Policy](https://taloswork.ai/en/privacy) for details.

## How does Talos update?

Talos includes automatic updates, and the app manages update files in the background. For a first-time installation, choose the installer for your operating system on the [Downloads](https://taloswork.ai/en/downloads) page.
